Annie and Ben fell under the spell of Big Sur early in their relationship and decided to hold their wedding ceremony on the cliffs at the Paion estate in Big Sur. In Annie's words,"...there was just something incredibly special about Big Sur. It just gets into your soul." Big Sur turned out to be a perfect setting for these two deep, soulful, incredibly beautiful people.
Doing the engagement session the day before the ceremony and getting to know the family and friends during the rehearsal barbecue was wonderful. Our approach to documentary wedding photography has always been to try to blend in, which results in people being more relaxed and natural in front of the camera, to the point that they don't even notice us anymore.
Here are some of the pictures we did for their engagement session at Paion and in the redwoods which was followed by a rehearsal dinner barbecue at the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.
