Anyone who knows me will attest that I am a total fly fishing junkie. So it didn't take much convincing when David approached me with the idea that he would like to do his engagement shoot on a river while doing some fly fishing for steelhead. Scheduling this shoot was not easy, David lives in Dallas, Texas and Annalisa is finishing up her doctoral studies in Rochester NY, but somehow we got lucky and it all came together on a perfect Sunday in late February. This shoot had a lost of firsts for me, first time taking clients fly fishing, first time fishing the upper Russian river, first time for Annalisa putting on some waders (that were about two sizes too big) and playing in a river, the first time David fished for steelhead, first time a client got soaked at a shoot, and the first time shooting an engagement session with the clients immersed in water. Since a recent storm had just blown through we knew that the fishing would not be really good, but it didn't stop us from trying. We did find a fish skeleton, that served as a reminder about what could have been. Annalisa and David reminded us of ourselves, when I am on a fishing trip with the family, Meher is content reading a book at the river bank while I fish. Despite the so-so fishing we did discover some beautiful spots and had a blast. I think I'd like to do this again! Any takers?
