May and Howard, San Francisco natives who live in Southern California, got hitched at the Skyline Community Church with close family and friends in attendance. This scenic church is way up in the hills of Oakland, with panoramic views from the huge windows behind the altar. The day was overcast and rainy, we realized that we wouldn't be able to get many outdoor shots, so we quickly assessed the situation. May and Howard got ready in separate rooms at the church. In May's dressing room, there was a photogenic makeup table that served well as a prop and helped create some timeless looking photos. There was also a large painting of a stormy scene that attracted our attention and was soon incorporated into the shoot. After the ceremony and formal photos, we walked the church grounds with May and Howard to do some creative portraits before heading over to San Francisco for the Chinese banquet. The reception was held at the Canton Seafood Restaurant with over 300 guests. May changed into a gorgeous traditional Chinese dress at the banquet, before visiting with their guests. The food was several courses of delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine, (Marcel can finally check sea-cucumber off his culinary bucket list ;-). There were fun games, songs and speeches, including one quiz where we (Marcel and Meher Photography) were mentioned! How cool is that?
