Larissa & Andy’s Wedding at the General’s Residency

San Francisco Fort Mason Wedding

When we photographed Andy and Larissa's engagement session in the wine country some time back, we knew that their San Francisco wedding would be memorable. Andy and Larissa met online and had their first date at an Irish bar. Despite the fact they weren't able to meet for another month, they left such a strong impression on each other that love was inevitable. Since Andy is from England and Larissa from the South East of the United States, their families would be traveling to San Francisco. So they wanted to make sure their guests had a real San Francisco experience. The General's Residency with its breathtaking views of the bay, seemed a perfect San Francisco venue and it was. Here is what Larissa wrote us about their vision for their wedding:
"We wanted a vibe that was casual but classy, which incorporated elements of both of our families and heritages.  Andy is English, so he transformed the downstairs bar into an English pub (with English ales) for cocktail hour.  We named tables after counties in England, and added centerpieces that included books by famous authors from those counties along with other classics (an homage to Larissa's mom, who studied English literature).  We took the vintage-nerd vibe further with science references by incorporating Erlenmeyer flasks as vases and using candy-filled test tubes for name cards and favors (a nod to Larissa's dad, a chemist).  Our friends and family know how to bring the party, and we were lucky enough to find a DJ to match our crowd's energy to keep the dance floor packed till the end of the night! We feel so lucky to have worked with such great vendors who made us laugh and helped us to relax.  It was an absolutely incredible day and thanks to everyone's fantastic work and coordination." Well, thank you guys for making us part of your fantastic wedding.
Some fun facts:
  • Instead of a cake cutting (Larissa and Andy are not into cake), they decided to have a cheese cutting, which was a first for us.
  • For cocktail hour they had transformed the downstairs of the General's residency into an english pub -- we were blown away by the truly authentic atmosphere.
  • Larissa and Andy made their dog Luna a part of the ceremony. It almost seemed she had a sense of the importance of the occasion and was very well behaved.
  • Larissa put a 6 pence coin into her shoe before the ceremony, an old English tradition.
